Drug Rehab

If one abuses drugs such as Yaba, marijuana, heroin, sleeping pills, liquor, Phensedyl, injecting pharmaceuticals, etc, one eventually becomes habituated to them and feels an intense craving to take them. Then, if one is unable to take them, one suffers intensely both physically and psychologically. It becomes tough for one to function normally. Despite suffering physical and psychological damages from long-term drug abuse, and despite being willing, it is impossible for many to quit drugs on one’s own. This is drug dependence. Some people term it drug addiction. Drug dependence is not a disease. It’s a bad habit formed from long-term drug abuse. Although many people think it is not possible to quit drugs. But the truth is a part of the drug dependent can give up drugs on one’s own. But, many are unable to quit drugs by themselves. They can get rid of the dependence only through proper and effective treatment. CREA provides a multidisciplinary approach to recovery from substance abuse. Comprehensive treatment services offer a structured treatment environment that begins with the withdrawal/detoxification process and extends through aftercare planning following residential treatment.

In the treatment of drug dependence, rehabilitation is a process of reinstating the things the individual has lost as a result of drug dependence. It is a process for the drug dependent individual to overcome physical-psychological damages and family-social alienation and reintegrate into the drugs-free healthy mainstream life. The first step in this process is motivating the individual to take treatment. Then the person is enrolled for detoxification. After detoxification, the key activities are providing education on dependence, training on craving management, skills and techniques of relapse prevention as well as offering training and therapies to resolve the behavioral and psychological problems the individual suffers from.

In the rehabilitation method, the individual gets help to understand the entire process of one’s drug dependence. In addition, it is shown to the individual why one has been continuing with abusing drugs. One is also made aware of the situations that trigger drug abuse and provided with education and skills to prevent relapse. In this process the individual develops a habit of a harmonious life using a balanced mixture of work, carrying out responsibilities, recreation/sports, and relaxation and thus safeguard oneself from the craving for drugs. In this treatment which is longer than medical detoxification, the individual takes responsibility for one’s own recovery.

CREA is considered the pioneer in Bangladesh in adopting the doctrine of Social Learning/Socio-Cognitive Model (Banduara, A. 1977) in substance abuse intervention.  Its self-sustaining units are offering a unique and wide-ranging treatment course than other treatment centers do.

What is social learning/socio-cognitive model?

Classical conditioning and operant conditioning describe how we learn from direct experience. However, humans usually learn by observing others. This is called social learning. Social learning is the most common way that people learn. Therefore, it has important implications for recovery efforts. An important idea in social learning theory is that humans pick up a lot of their behavior from observing other people. Not only do individuals observe how others behave but they will start to copy such behaviors if they feel it will be beneficial to do so. This type of modeling allows the individual to pick up important skills so that they can cope better in the world.

Drug rehabilitation method at CREA takes you away from your daily triggers and stresses that naturally escort to your drug use in the first place. Once you are in a safe and sound environment away from drugs, you can give attention to the process of living a life free of substance abuse willingly.

CREA offers an intensive, effective, efficient and modernized program personalized to your needs to give you the best possible opportunity of sobriety. With attention on dealing with the underlying issues of why you use drugs in the first place, a dedication from us to teach you better managing skills and a full set of effectual tools to utilize them; you can walk a path of sobriety.

At CREA we provide the following therapies:

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

CBT is one of the pillars of the treatment program offered here at CREA Rehab. This approach helps you understand how your thoughts affect your behavior, and it provides you with tools to help you stay sober and live more effectively. Two important ways in which CBT can help your recovery is by teaching you to recognize high-risk situations, and by providing you with tools for coping and dealing with potential threats.

The primary goal of addiction counseling of CREA is to help the client achieve and maintain abstinence from addictive chemicals and behaviors. The secondary goal is to help the client recover from the damage the addiction has done to the client’s life. This service also includes:

  1. Motivation
  2. Personal counseling
  3. Family counseling
  4. Psychoeducation
  5. Work conditioning applying occupational therapy.

Relapse Presentation

After making changes to your life, it is important to consider how to maintain these changes so they are sustainable throughout everyday life. Relapse prevention will equip you with the tools you need to ensure that you do not fall back into old habits.

Relapse prevention (RP) is an important component of drug treatment. Our RP model suggests that both immediate determinants (e.g., high-risk situations, coping skills, outcome expectancies, and the abstinence violation effect) and covert antecedents (e.g., lifestyle factors and urges and cravings) can contribute to relapse. The model also incorporates numerous specific and global intervention strategies that allow the therapist and client to address each step of the relapse process. Specific interventions include identifying specific high-risk situations for each client and enhancing the client’s skills for coping with those situations, increasing the client’s self-efficacy, eliminating myths regarding drug’s effects, managing lapses, and restructuring the client’s perceptions of the relapse process. CREA’s strategies comprise balancing the client’s lifestyle and helping him or her develop positive addictions, employing stimulus control techniques and urge management techniques, and developing relapse road maps.
