Education & Training

A pool of clinical psychologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, counsilors, social workers, legal experts and volunteers with various expertyise is engaged in the program. The major activities under the program include:

  • Identifying and assessing training and educational needs of the targeted people.
  • Developing training manuals/curricula offering training as per yearly training calendars and upon request.
  • Offering and holding training courses on request.
  • Publication on HIV/AIDS, Drug Dependence and Mental Health issues covering articles to break stigma and misconceptions attached to HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse and Mental Illness.
  • Developing and executing awareness-raising projects to achieve clear understanding form their own standpoint on issues relating to drug abuse and associated HIV risks and continue with the awareness activities through community involvement.
  • Identifying issues relevant to CREA thematic areas, chalks out advocacy activities, organizes advocacy events, and maintains networks with other agencies and organizations for related activities.

Training Modules

1.Basic counseling

Duration: 5 days

Description : Definition; basics of interpersonal communication; theoretical background; qualities of a good counselor; types of counseling – directive and nondirective counseling; stages of counseling process; developing micro skills in counseling – reflective listening, paraphrasing, giving empathy, etc; termination; supervision in counseling.

Suitable for: Anyone interested for counseling.

 

2.Drug (Substance Abuse) Counseling

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Basics of interpersonal communication; basics of counseling techniques; identifying issues in chemical dependency counseling; case conceptualization; choosing different techniques- behavioral and cognitive techniques; case management; counseling the significant others (family members etc).

Suitable for: Anyone interested for counseling.

 

3.Parenting Training-1

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Parents face issues at very early stage of their children and especially when children are going through growing pain. This intense training course would help you to learn: How to talk to your children so that they will listen to you; how to listen to your children so they feel genuinely understood; how to resolve conflicts and problems in your family so that no one loses and problems stay solved; a method for troubleshooting family problems and knowing which skills to use to solve them.

Suitable for: Parents and caregivers who have children aged 12-19.

 

4.Parenting Training-2 

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Parents need to know that like adults all children and adolescents’ behavior including the problem behaviors have purposes too – no beghavior is purposeless. So, whenever any problem behavior occurs parents may try to look for the causes behind that particular ‘problem’ behavior and the benefits the child is getting out of it. This intense training course would help you to learn how to give encouragement or strokes; reflection and reflexivity; how to show empathy to your child; how to listen actively/empathically; how to deal with ‘the parent child coercive circle’; giving independence; how to deal with special problems; Mindful parenting; etc.

Suitable for: Parents and caregivers who has children aging 12-19 years of age.

 

5.HIV/AIDS

 

Duration: 3 days

Description : Overview of HIV and AIDS scenario-Global, regional & country scenario; basic information about HIV/AIDS and related terminologies; prevention of HIV transmission in MARGs and general population; essential services, basic concepts on VCT; psycho-social support for PLWHAs; understanding stigma and discrimination.

Suitable for: NGO workers in HIV field.

 

6.Interpersonal Communication

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: The ability to build rapport and trust to present oneself and one’s ideas with clarity and professionalism and to be able to handle challenging situation is invaluable. Our interpersonal communication workshops are fun, entertaining, practical, challenging and highly effective in bringing about a change in behavior. The training contents are communication basics; perception and listening; verbal & nonverbal communication; definition of interpersonal communication; relationships; interpersonal communication and culture; lifecycles of relationships; interpersonal communication and conflict; and professional and crisis communication.

7.Stress Management & Relaxation

 

Duration: 3 days

Description : Understanding stress – short-term and long-term consequences of stress on human functioning; life style and stress; personality type and stress; identifying stressors; assessment of stress and burnout; behavioral and cognitive techniques of dealing with stress; understanding relaxation; different relaxation techniques (progressive muscle relaxation, breathing relaxation, imaginal techniques, some eastern techniques).

Suitable for: Everyone, health service providers.

 

8.Life Skills (Adolescents)

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: CREA developed life-skill training for the adolescent group focusing on increasing the abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that would enable them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Analysis of the life skills field suggests that there is a core set of skills that are at the heart of skillsbased initiatives for the promotion of the health and well-being of children and adolescents. This training course focuses on this core set of skills listed below:

9.Preventing Child Sexual Abuse

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Caregivers need to understand child sexual abuse and their role in preventing it. Education in this area should be in the context of explaining healthy sexual development.

Contents of this training: Definition of child sexual abuse, including the continuum of appropriate, inappropriate, and harmful behaviors; challenge commonly-held myths about child sexual abuse; describe warning signs for sexually offending behaviors and victimization (i.e., what to watch for); discuss how to talk to their children about sexuality and child sexual abuse as well as how to talk to other adults about child sexual abuse both before and after any suspicion of sexual abuse has been raised; explain caregivers’ responsibility to act if they witness or hear about inappropriate or harmful behaviors; resources for seeking help.

10.Couple Conflict

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Couples sometimes face difficulties in their relationship with each other. This training is for those couple who are suffering pain in their relationship and unable to find any solution to resolve their problems.

This interactive training course would help couples-

  • To understand different aspects related to couple conflict
  • To identify their problems for effective interventions
  • Provide strategies and tools to help couples successfully manage their conflict
  • Techniques for couples to deepen their intimacy and understanding

11.Training on Psychosexual Dysfunction

 

Duration: 3 days

Description: Understanding Psycho-sexual Dysfunction (PSD); an orientation about different psychosexual problems covering both genders such as erectile dysfunction; premature ejaculation, retarded ejaculation, frigidity etc; causes of PSD; assessment – areas and techniques of; different intervention methods and techniques for male and female PSD (psycho-education, conjoint therapy).

12.Training of Trainers (TOT)

 

Duration: 11 days
